A huge perk of being a housewife for the summer, is getting to take off on random Tuesdays for spontaneous road trips. My pal Ipsi is back at the old alma mater working on an additional degree (you go, girl!) so I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to go back in time and hang out with her just like we did in the old days.
First off, I love driving out into the western part of the state. You're really in the sticks. There were times where I seemed like the only car out on the road. (Isn't that a "Train" song?) Anyway, it's so relaxing and gives you such a clear mind. Very zen.
I arrived in the late morning and we took a jaunt through campus. Although there is some new construction, I was quite pleased to see that not a whole lot has changed. It felt very comforting to walk around an area that I knew so well several years back. We had lunch at The Diner, requesting Shaggy on the jukebox, and moved on to the affectionately named "Dirt Mall" which maybe has five stores and a movie theater. Then, we did the ultimate college activity: crashed on the couch with Dr. Pepper and M&Ms and drooled over Gerard Butler while watching The Ugly Truth. After a little of TLC's What Not to Wear, we were off to downtown, where I scored the ultimate souvenir - Antonio's Pizza.
What a great day!
Side note: best line ever to hear when driving through Dunks - "What? What do you need?!" Ha!
